GAP - Guardian Angels Parents

Information about GAP
GAP (Guardian Angel's Parents) is a volunteer and fundraising group for Guardian Angels Catholic School. Many of the
events are intended to be social rather than profitable. GAP sponsors many different projects throughout the school
year, and relies on parent volunteers to make them successful. All of the programs that help make our school run so
smoothly are looking for people just like you. Each event has a chairperson or co-chairs and needs volunteers to make
the event possible. If you have any questions about an event, you are welcome to phone the chair of that program to
get more information. You will find a brief description of each event on this page.

Our GAP group holds monthly meetings that are noted on the school calendar. If you are interested in knowing what is
happening at our school, these meetings are for you! A principal's report is given to the group with both current
information  and future plans for the school.  Much of the information about events and programs for our children is discussed
at these meetings.  We would love for you to join us. You can explore ways to become involved or merely learn about what
is happening at GA.

GAP Guidelines
Any item to be discussed at the meeting shall be put on the agenda. This may be done by submitting the item to the
GAP President one week prior to the meeting. The person submitting the item will present it at the meeting and a short
discussion will follow. Recommendations will then be given to the proper person or committee. We also have an
"open discussion" section on our monthly agenda.

Distribution of all funds raised by GAP will be done with the recommendation of the principal. Any ideas that are
directly related to the welfare of our children in the whole education process of home and school will be taken into
consideration.

The GAP board consists of a President, President-elect, Secretary and Treasurer. All positions are one-year terms
that coincide with the school year with the exception of the President-Elect. Following is a list of the current GAP
board and a brief description of their responsibilities:

President: Doug Fontair is the head of GAP who presides at all meetings and is responsible for all GAP activities.

President-Elect: Joe Campanelli, the president-elect will take over duties of President for the 2011-2012 school year. The president-elect works closely with the president and takes over the duties in the event of his/her absence at business or general meetings.

Treasurer: Bruce Kowal keeps accurate records, receives all moneys for GAP and is responsible for payment of all bills

Auction:
An exciting evening event including silent and live auctions of items donated by friends of GA and by each

Moms to Moms Resale:  Held in the fall and spring, table space is rented and moms sell gently used children's
clothing, toys and  equipment.

Campbell's Labels for Education: Labels from Campbell's products are sent into the office. Parents sort them

office or just send them to school with your child.

Big G Box Tops: General Mills cereal box top labels are sent into the school office and then redeemed for cash

Do you have a fundraiser suggestion??? All ideas are welcome!  There are simple forms that you can fill out with a
brief description of the event.  These ideas are then presented to the GAP board for consideration. The forms are kept
in a clear bin across from the school office on the wall next to the bulletin board. If you have further questions please
contact any GAP board member

Services Provided

GAP is also involved in activities that are a part of our school community.

SCRIP:  Negotiable gift certificates from local stores and resturants can be purchased weekly throughout the school year,
with a percentage being returned to the parents' tuition account.. Information about SCRIP is given at the beginning of the school
year with updates and changes noted in the monthly Gazette. Parent volunteers are needed to collect, distribute and sort SCRIP
orders each week.  This service is a fundraiser which benefits your own tuition account. Many families save LOTS of money by
using SCRIP.

Market Day: This is both a fundraiser and a service to GA families. Market Day is a frozen and packaged food
service that delivers the food to the school once each month. Order forms are sent in the children's backpacks
or parents may order on-line. High quality meats, vegetables, entrees and desserts are just a few of the items offered in each sale.
Parents unable to pick up the order at the time of delivery (3pm) will find their order in the office when they arrive.

Library Birthday Book
Program: Parents are invited to purchase a new book for the school library in honor of their child's birthday
Parents pay $5.00 toward the purchase and GAP pays the remaining balance. The birthday book forms are available throughout
the year in the library.  Your child's name will be entered on the inside of the cover and your child is the first one to check
the book out from the library.

Used Uniform Sale:
A mini 'garage sale" of uniforms held at the end of the school year. Students are allowed to wear casual
clothing after this Spring uniform sale so parents can sell anything that won't fit in the fall.
